Crockpot Multicooker Recall
According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recalled Crock-Pot multi-cooker can pressurize when the lid is not fully locked. This can cause the lid to suddenly detach while the pressure cooker is still in use, leading to serious burns from hot food and liquids being ejected from the product. According to our investigation, there are additional alleged defects with the lid and base, which are not addressed in the recall, including safety issues with the locking mechanism which can allow the lid to open while the unit is still pressurized.
The recall deals more with warranty claims, rather than personal injury claim help for Crockpot burn victims. All Sunbeam offers in the recall is a replacement lid. That is hardly enough for victims who sustained life-altering burn injuries from their pressure cooker.
The pressure cookers which Crock-Pot included in the recall are Crock-Pot 6-Quart Express Crock Multi-Cookers, Model Number SCCPPC600-V1, which is shown on label on bottom of unit. The multi-cookers which are part of the recall were manufactured between July 1, 2017 and October 1, 2018, with date codes K196JN through K365JN and L001JN through L273JN. The date code is engraved on one of the prongs of the electrical plug and on the bottom of the base. It can also be found on the product’s box.
